Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been giving you glimpses into the coffee harvest season in Honduras and introducing you to the work Aldea Development does. Today, we want to introduce you to our staff in Honduras. We invite you to get to know our team, and hope to show you the way they contribute to making Aldea who we are! Each team member of our Honduras team has sent over an introduction, so you can get to know them, and their roles. Carlitos: “My name is Charlie, known by most as Carlitos. I have been working with Aldea since 2010. I spent my first 9 years as head of accounting and as director of the beneficio...
Dear Aldea Family, As this year comes to a close, sitting down and writing something to all of you is a first for us; hopefully the first of many to come. To begin with, we are sending this to update you on the many developments Aldea has undertaken in 2019. We opened a new café, are acquiring a building to permanently house our roaster, started baking most of our own pastries, and doubled our staff. To date it is one of the highest quality coffees available at Aldea. Charlie’s coffee farm only produced 300 pounds this year, so we are again doing a limited release for the holidays. We want to show what a difference a year can make and how special we feel being involved in the lives of the growers we work with is. Charlie's Second Coffee Harvest You might think growing coffee in the mountains of Honduras seems like a romantic notion, Carlos proved it really can be. Seriously, maybe we should wait until Valentines...
Aldea Coffee barista Elly Bollweg is gaining attention for the art she creates outside of a coffee cup. Next week she’ll have a piece of her work included in an art show in Grand Rapids alongside several regional artists. If you’ve visited the Aldea Coffee shop in Grand Haven you’ve probably seen some of Elly’s artwork. The menu cards and center pieces on the tables feature her drawings. Most menu and graphical items for the Aldea brand come from her talented hand. And of course, the barista also creates art in your favorite latte. But Elly’s gaining recognition for her use of paint not milk. One of her pieces will be on display in All Art Works Fall 2018, on...
