Aldea Coffee barista Elly Bollweg is gaining attention for the art she creates outside of a coffee cup. Next week she’ll have a piece of her work included in an art show in Grand Rapids alongside several regional artists. If you’ve visited the Aldea Coffee shop in Grand Haven you’ve probably seen some of Elly’s artwork. The menu cards and center pieces on the tables feature her drawings. Most menu and graphical items for the Aldea brand come from her talented hand. And of course, the barista also creates art in your favorite latte. Coast Guard Week in Grand Haven means a lot of things: ships, carnival rides, traffic(!), food, and fun. The Beaver Island Music Festival was started in 2003 because a few people wanted to hear "music in the woods." All these years later, the notes are still playing on this 13-mile long island located in the northern waters of Lake Michigan. The annual Festival will kick off on July 19 and run for three days with great music and appreciation for art and nature. According to the festival founders, Beaver Island Music Festival "promotes the variety and tradition of all music and art." Aldea Coffee will be at the Festival this year for the first time, serving cold brew, lemonade, and other assorted coffee drinks.
