Alfredo, 42, lives with his wife and daughters in La Union. Alfredo is a graduate of the Aldea Coffee processing program. His goal is to construct a solar dryer and processing equipment to continue to improve the quality of his coffee. In 2013, Alfredo was hit by a detrimental crop disease called leaf rust that affected 25% of his crop. However, through preventative measures he has recovered. By selling his coffee to Aldea, Alfredo has been able to improve his economic situation and make much needed upgrades to his family's living arrangements.
Alfredo was paid $2.22 per pound, 58% above fair trade for his coffee.
