How Young Mountain Tea helped change the tea industry with Indian farmers

How many people are willing to risk everything on their big idea? Raj Vable did just that back in 2013 when he promised farmers in the Kumaon region of northern India that if they would grow tea, he would buy all of it. Five years later, that decision has proved wise, as Young Mountain Tea now works with more than 600 farmers in India and elsewhere. What was Raj’s big idea? To raise the quality of Indian tea and import it to the United States. He wasn’t sure where the idea would take him, and there have been twists, but the fact that this tea importer is flourishing and the farmers in India are becoming independent and earning a good...

What Brittany Learned in Honduras

Last month Brittany visited Aldea Development in Honduras. While she was there she made friends (imagine that), saw the coffee farmers in action, and learned about our coffee production facility in that country. Why we're heading to the Beaver Island Music Festival

The Beaver Island Music Festival was started in 2003 because a few people wanted to hear "music in the woods." All these years later, the notes are still playing on this 13-mile long island located in the northern waters of Lake Michigan. The annual Festival will kick off on July 19 and run for three days with great music and appreciation for art and nature. According to the festival founders, Beaver Island Music Festival "promotes the variety and tradition of all music and art." Aldea Coffee will be at the Festival this year for the first time, serving cold brew, lemonade, and other assorted coffee drinks. The photo above shows Madi at our Muskegon facility making lemonade for the event....
